Chubby cheeks

.

There was no inspiration to be found this morning in our soggy grey village. Not that I’d really had great expectations, but sometimes that’s when the best surprises arrive.

We live in hope.

Brain is currently stuck in neutral, however.

Not prepared to be taxed today.

.

No sooner had I sat down than Muffin needed another meal.

It’s not as simple as an offering of kibble or opening a can of food, because what she tucked into enthusiastically two hours earlier will subsequently certainly be rejected.

So you keep popping the tops of cans until you hit an acceptable flavour.

It’s as well we have six other cats to eat all the rejects.

.

With Muffin sorted out, I came back to the desk only to be poked by another needy cat.

Having recently found the brush Lily likes, I’d given her a good grooming .

Now she comes by daily to remind me, though I have to be careful as she’d almost ended up with a bald patch!

.

Lily is very persuasive.

.

Usually I can count on a mid-morning cup of tea to get me going, but even that failed today because there was no-one to provide it, Grant being elsewhere.

It’s not the same if you have to make it yourself!

.

A couple of weeks ago, my neck cracked so loudly, Grant heard it across the room. It’s been making crunching noises for years, but this felt more significant and it is a bit painful, but what is bothering me more at the moment is the mosquito bite on it.

It is my contention that itching is worse than pain though I suppose it depends on the severity.

Mosquito bites are one thing, but I have also been driven to distraction by chilblains and a severe case of hives.

Itching is hard to ignore!

.

Tom Turkey had a different sort of itch.

“Hello pretty lady!”

.

.

But the baggage strutted on past.

Oh, the disappointment!

As of this morning though, he’s still trying to woo her, down in the corn field where they have been marching up and down for the past week.

.

Here’s a very short amusing video from late yesterday:

  1. Good to see the Chipmunk stuffing its cheeks, and the lovelorn Turkey too.
I prefer to make my own tea, I know just how I like it.
Yesterday, I got my first mosquito bite of the season, in the crook of my right arm. I didn’t see the offending biter, but luckily my antihistamines are keeping the worst of the itching at bay.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. I agree – when someone else makes tea for me, it always tastes better! My goodness, I can’t believe how that little chipmunk fills its mouth! Great video!!
