Heaven knows, I’ve had that happen!
Consulting a help site on YouTube, I was able to beat my uncooperative printer into submission this morning, obtaining the necessary copies of my US passport.

These must be sent with my soon-to-be-expired British passport via DHL to somewhere in Hemel Hempstead.
In anticipation, I’d looked up the nearest DHL office and found an address in Saratoga Springs. It was still early, so we decided to head over there, but something told me to double-check the address.
And some other instinct told me to check even further. I clicked onto Google Map to have a look at the place and found – a private residence.

Just as well we didn’t make that wasted trip!
It’s getting so you can’t believe anything. Certainly not the enormous volume of email warnings of things about to expire that you must absolutely take action on!

The world is full of crooks, many of them in our government.
Recently I’ve been reading stories featuring the mad Roman Emperor Commodus. Change the names and modify the scenario and you’d have the USA in 2025.
The lies, corruption, fear, kowtowing is utterly sickening.

It is truly SHOCKING to me that so many still rally around a man who is totally incoherent and does not know the difference between Harlem and Harvard, which is only one small example of his total disconnect from reality.
His disconnect from civility is famous and some appear to celebrate it.
How is it possible not to be enraged?

Every few days I take a deep breath and try to get a grip, since after all life must go on. But the news inevitably filters through and there is a daily gem, so soon I go bash my head against a wall again.
This is a mad country.
Sometimes the snippets of other news that come to distract you are not the sort you really want…

My longtime travel buddy Tim began chemotherapy treatments on Tuesday.
Information of his diagnosis was bad news, obviously, although he is being very philosophical about it.
His mother was one of the most sensible people I ever met and he takes after her.
Tim has another concern that is far more troubling as far as he is concerned.
.
His cat began refusing all food recently and yesterday he got the dreadful news that Oscar has lung cancer.
Tim has had a cat for all but a few scant years of his life and has had to say goodbye to many. It’s that part of the bargain you have to accept when caring for an animal.
.
But for him to be faced with losing Oscar at this precise time is just too sad and too cruel.
The animal hospital was able to get Oscar to eat and apart from his weight loss, he has been alright, so it is that awful waiting and watching game that only ends in heartbreak.

Such sadness really does put things in perspective.
So sorry to read about Tim, and Oscar too. There is too much sadness in the world these days.

Mad is mad and sad is sad. Chemo and the end of a pet. Futher the tragedy that one man gets the vitriol and the dark money limousine socialist droolers get a pass. 1.5 BILLION – Not a typo, in undisclosed funds trying to elect a woman who doesn’t know where the border is or if she’s been there, can’t find Europe on a map, too incompetent to keep any job gifted her in California where half-assed-ry rules- that’s not equally intolerable to the loud mouth boor? Quien mas peligrosa(o). I’d rather drink drain cleaner than see American politics discussed much more, with divisive us vs them rhetoric. No one is “right” and it’s a dullard’s conversation. Just sayin’.
I would agree with you – there should be no parties, we should elect suitable candidates. There should be no them and us. I never favoured one side over the other until T made the R party into such a disgrace. Anything is better than that lot and he is despicable, stupid and dangerous which is why I get wound up. I think it ignore the danger is to let it happen and I don’t want to be responsible in any way.
I think stupid, particularly, and dangerous applies to all the puppets since probably Truman. The difference here is T pulls his own strings. On one hand it’s out in the open, on the other, as you said, it’s scary as hell.
That’s terrible news Carolyn. I do hope that Tim reacts well to treatment and that whatever time Oscar has left is free from pain and full of love.

Hi C Smith! Sorry to hear about your friend and his kitty. Hoping they get through this together. Glad to see you are still doing ok. It’s tough to stay positive with all this crap that evil turd is putting out. Now defunding PBS and NPR… what an ass.. everyday he destroys good things! All we can do is hope we get enough people voting to get them out, if we even get a chance to vote again 🙁
