.

Yesterday morning’s misty dawn was captivating.
.

.

.

It was a good way to start the day, though a quick scan of news headlines soon put a damper on my elation.
.
Most days I can shake off a bad mood but yesterday it took up residence, possibly because of an aching head and insufficient sleep.

.

However there are many who have a great deal more to be grumpy about than me.
And a lot less to distract them from their troubles.
.
Rows of trees ask to be photographed.

.

As well as trees on skylines.

.
Or farms on skylines.

.

Our route to the vet takes us past terrain frequented by wild turkeys.
They were there last Thursday.
.
Strutting and displaying.

.

“Oh look, Maude. He’s at it again.”
The girls are hard to impress.
.
Not long after we got home, Grant spotted another group moving up the hill across the valley.
Those girls also playing hard to get.

.

We have a lunchtime visitor these days.
He shows up every day at the same time to gaze hopefully in at us, so now I have to remember to put a few nuts out for him.
After all, he asks so nicely.
.
Doves sit patiently in the waiting room, hoping there will be some leftovers when the others have had their fill.

.

That day a red-breasted woodpecker perched on a nearby branch watching me through the window.
.
The birds took Spring snow in stride.
Mrs Cardinal was grateful for sunflower seeds.

.

Notso the lady cowbird nattered with Master Sparrow.
.
Finches came to the hanging feeder.
Gold and purple.

.

“You take our picture?”

.
Grant noticed that one was missing a foot, or maybe had the leg retracted, but it appeared unbothered.

.

Mr and Mrs Purple Finch often turn up together.
She, of course, dresses down.
.
They flew back and forth to a hedge.

.

Along with a chickadee.
.
Meanwhile Master Sparrow surveyed the goings on with a critical eye.
He is The Boss, despite his diminutive size!

I love the polite and patient squirrel sitting expectantly. The Wild Turkeys are impressive, I wish we had wild ones over here to see strutting around.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the stunning photography of the trees, the sky, and all the birds. Napoleon wasn’t tall either!
Joanna
