.

Thanksgiving brought first snow. Slightly more than the predicted 2 cms, but not much more.

It came down in large wet lumps mostly, but it made for a pretty sight this morning.

.

Fan I may be, I prefer it less slushy.

Wet snow damages. Trees, plants and structures.

And humans who skid around on it.

.

In the afternoon I pulled on my muck boots and confidently went out with an extra offering of nuts for the wildlife.

Soon I discovered it had been one of those treacherous sorts of days with temperatures going up and down, so what looked like innocent slush was frozen underneath.

Luckily I managed to remain upright.

.

Thinking of my little wild friends, I took cautious steps all the way down the driveway and up to the groundhog hole* behind the garage to leave the nuts, not wanting anyone to go hungry.

This morning, the nuts were untouched and covered by another layer of frozen precipitation that had fallen overnight which was strange, given the number of tracks I saw.

.

*Groundhogs are asleep but their burrow is a place of expectation!

.

Even the nuts I’d put out on the porch were untouched, so where were all those tracks going?

Perhaps like humans they were all on their way to family for the holiday.

Thanksgiving was always the hands down worst traffic day when I worked at the airport, far more awful than the most horrible rush hour.

.

Oh, I don’t miss those days!

.

Today was taken up with shopping, of a sort.

No, not Christmas!

Anyway, it’s left me short of time.

Hence, a short post!
