The car wash being out of service scuppered our plans to have our vehicle made respectable but oh well, another day would have to do.
It was a beautiful afternoon, so we went to one of the locks to see what wildfowl we might find.
.
This is Champlain Lock, the same one that runs all the way up to Whitehall where I took pictures of it recently.
Here, it’s at Schuylerville.

.

It’s off season now of course, but a tiny paddle boat runs excursions in warmer weather.
.
Sometimes the canal is filled with geese.
That day, just a small group.

.

They were happily doing whatever geese do on a fine Saturday afternoon.
Dosing or preening…
.
…drifting and clucking…

.

…paddling gently…

.
and some observed us with beady eyes.

.

We sat enjoying the warm sun and it would have been quite heavenly, listening to the geese, but for an obnoxiously loud motorised device in use nearby.
When will someone invent a silent machine?
From there, we took a long way around to Greenwich.
.
Grant slowed for me to get the obligatory shot of power poles.
Inspecting it later, I thought: Cobwebs!
Can you see them?

.

As long as trees have leaves, they deserve a picture.
.
Or when they stand tall against the sky.

.

Such a peaceful Saturday afternoon.

.
A rare thing, for us to be out anywhere on a Saturday.

.

Grant even braved the supermarket, though I remained in the still-dirty car, keeping an eye on things.
I see the cobwebs!
Always important to manage a parked car! (That is a very cat-like behavior!)
Beautiful blue skies and calm waters – seems like the perfect day to be out and about. We’re usually home on Saturday afternoons … but on such a beautiful day, it would be a waste to be indoors. Beautiful photos.
Looks more like summer with those blue skies. We had overnight snow in Beetley for the first time since 2022. I hope that is not a sign of a hard winter ahead.
Best wishes, Pete.
You usually get out weather some days later, so you should be in for a warm dry period!
