Little Man

0556/8th July 2024

.

Overnight the temperature had moderated, which made doing the early rounds a pleasure.

.

It was the preamble to a steamy day.

.

As ever, I was captured by those early rays.

.

The early arrival of an electrician soon had the house in chaos and cats alternately hiding in remote corners or sticking their noses in where they ought not.

.

Dee Dee checked out the electrical closet then spent the day shadowing the man who was attempting to sort our problems.

Dee Dee always befriends new people:

“Hey! Who are you?”

After the man left Grant told me he had said he was allergic to cats!

.

One of the many movers I’ve employed over the years was very allergic to cats and the poor man’s eyes were streaming by the time he was done.

Little Man decided not to introduce himself.

He still manages to disappear completely when he choses. We know he is somewhere in the basement and probably in the beams holding up the ceiling.

.

One night the boy managed to find his way on to Grant’s bed. Usually he is met with a barrage of hissing from Dee Dee, Lily and Tinkerbelle, but this night he curled up and went to sleep which gave Grant occasion to notice that in his sleep Little Man vibrates. It is not purring. We noticed that in certain reclining positions one of his legs shakes slightly. We wonder if he has a neurological disorder.

.

Somehow I don’t think Little Man will take medicine as willingly as Willow, but for now we can only observe and hope that there is no serious problem.

Will he ever have a proper name?

He responds to Little Man and it fits him.

He is a very dear chap.

.

It still baffles me how he just managed to find his way beneath our hedge and that no-one has looked for him.

.

Running late now…carrots to distribute…water to top up….

  1. Your photos of the sunrise are splendid, capturing just the essential, warm, nostalgic feeling associated with the beams of light shining through the branches. If you don’t mind, what camera/device do you use?

  2. Thank you, Carolyn, for the stunning photos of the morning world! Thank you also for the update and photos of the beautiful Sweetheart!

  3. Thanks for sharing more pictures, and stories, of your “Little Man”! He is so adorable! 😍
That he has already found a comfortable spot on Grant’s bed, is remarkable!
    Meant to be, I say……🩷😽😻

  4. It is an eternal mystery where found cats come from.
We know some are callously abandoned and etc,
    But still the mysteries remain.
I would love to believe in some esoteric and global (or at least continental) cat communication system that guides cats.
Alas – it is probably not so.
But may all cats – lost, abandoned, venturing, adrift, soul-searching, whatever, and otherwise – be lucky enough to find their rightful homes as good as yours.

  5. I love your early morning photos – stunning! The poor electrician – Dee Dee probably made it her mission for the day to see everything happen as it should (she is the shop steward after all)! Little Man is a cutie — he has already found a place in my heart!
