A loud thump in the kitchen, followed by a seemingly anguished feline wail got me up at 4 am.
Only to find Muffin looking at me expectantly.
.
“I’s wos jus’ looking for a snack.”
“If you ate your dinner, Muffin, you wouldn’t be hungry.”
“In the middle of the night!”
Toward the end, Toby needed food every two hours or so, but he scoffed whatever I kept at hand.
Ms Muffin Fusscat, on the other hand…

Seeking new varieties for Madame, my Chewy order went in early and things got confusing because half of a previous order was running late.
Additionally, something new is happening in the shipping department.
This big box arrived just now.
Containing a solitary item.
.
Not even a shred of packing paper to keep it company.
This is not a problem for me but the Fedex man is meeting himself coming and going, which is bound to happen with each item individually dispatched.
Previously, everything was shoved into one big very heavy box such that often some items were crushed.
Chewy customer service is great. They send replacements and/or refunds.

.

Kibble or treats can easily be scooped up, but I’d thought perhaps someone might have a word with the packing department for their own benefit.
But how do you motivate minimum wage workers in such a job?
Then recently, a change! Now boxes are arriving that have been custom-built, cut down to size.
Not quite the right size, but why quibble?
.
Buying from Chewy is a great convenience because of the vast variety and prices they offer, not to mention having my order delivered.
But it’s time to re-organise, with significantly fewer cats. And now the starlings are back I need to put suet back on the list!

.

With dawn arriving earlier, I hope Muffin won’t be making too many midnight demands, nights being short enough.
This morning’s dawn was interesting.
.
A variety not seen before.
Which progressed to…

.

...rolling clouds…
…and rolling sun-breaks.
.
Nibbs came by to tell us he was fine, thank you.
Yesterday he turned up with a nasty bite wound. It looked clean but it was unprotected. I lunged at it with some anti-biotic salve but Nibbs was not into first aid at all and we worried.
It could so easily turn bad.

.

But he came by this morning to help us with leftovers and to set our minds at ease.
As he swallowed his meal we got a quick look and were relived to see the wound had dried up and seemed to be healing nicely.
.
By lunchtime the rolling clouds had flattened out.

.

Becoming almost feather-like…
.
and really quite lovely.

.

We are making the best of this day.
.
Given future expectations.

Thank you, Carolyn, for the musing, and the beautiful sky! Good to know that Nibs is well.
Joanna
Glad to hear Nibbs is OK, and that you are able to monitor the wound.
This little boy has quite an adventurous life.
Ms. Muffin has beautiful blue eyes!

Those pack and despatch jobs must be so demoralising!
Yes I am sure it’s all about “hurry up!” and it shows!
That is completely ridiculous packaging for a small packet of cat treats. I suspect the person must have been working out their notice and decided to cost the company money by only using huge boxes.
The clouds are lovely, Carolyn.
Best wishes, Pete.
Ha, that’s a very big box for a very small package! Well, I’m sure the cats in the house would love the box – a new toy! His Nibbs could probably write a book about his adventures – I’m glad his wound is doing better. Lovely cloud photos.
