We’ll see!

6th February 2024

What was I to do with a cloudless sky and a (mostly) snow-free landscape?

.

Almost cloudless.

Where would a trio of small grey clouds originate?

Google’s answers were unconvincing.

Maybe they were just a reminder of irritating things that lurk..

.

These geese were not lurking.

They were installed en masse at the turf farm, finding themselves breakfast of some sort.

.

Returning from Clifton Park, a handful of small white clouds appeared and one dark one.

Dark in my opinion.

Housing estates are going up.

.

All very nice. New and clean and soulless.

How many acres of trees are being sacrificed?

.

Grant insists that this sign means bag lunches are being given out ahead.

Yesterday, it meant trees were being cut back or felled. We came upon this in three different locations.

The reason was unclear.

.

Back at the Hudson which is now at a more normal height, we saw that the geese had relocated across the road.

To paddle about in the icy water.

.

As anyone knows, who reads my blog, we are fond of car trips, however…

The purpose of this trip was a five-minute discussion with a nurse practitioner to arrange for the next set of injections.

Which could have been done 3 weeks ago by phone, such that I might now be pain-free rather than waiting another 3 weeks for said injections.

.

The clinic has been very helpful to me, so I am loath to rock the boat, but lately I seem to spend a lot more time waiting than I used to.

Maybe like every other medical facility, they are inundated.

.

We checked on the boat and saw that it had been moved, but only pushed aside apparently, to get it out of the way of some sort of activity.

That too was vague.

Maybe it was me. Nothing made much sense yesterday.

.

January having galloped by and a pile of paperwork having accumulated, I decided I would spend the abbreviated afternoon scanning tax information.

Sigh.

Scanners, printers…they ain’t my friends.

Now, the printer has reason to sulk perhaps, as it likely feels neglected and the ink dries.

What excuse for the scanner?

.

(Three grey clouds begat…)

.

The problem I encountered appeared to be an unacknowledged update. How I detest that word. It always leads to trouble.

After an hour of cajoling, some sequence of steps I took persuaded the wretch to perform.

Only to decide halfway through that it had changed its perishing mind.

.

Oh so tempted to give it up till another day, I gritted my teeth and somehow managed once again to press the right keys and got through the rest of the paperwork, all the while thinking what an absolute waste of time (and paper) all of this is for someone of my lowly status.

It would be less annoying if the wastage of our taxes was not daily flaunted in our faces.

A friend told me today about Turbo Scan, an app that will turn my phone into an efficient scanner.

We’ll see about that!

  1. Thank you, Carolyn, for the update on your eventful life! Love you Tuscany blue sky!
A few mor weeks, and the spring will be here, and you will be snapping some colour!

  2. My printer/scanner was bought for £10 secondhand a few years ago. The only time I used it was when my step-daughter asked me to print papers for her university course. So when it died, I decided not to bother to replace it. I left it in place, and rested my Internet modem and SAD lamp on it. Cheaper than a new shelf.
No blue skies here, sadly. It has been raining non-stop for 27 hours and my dog-walk was more like a mud-slide.
    Best wishes, Pete.
