A few little drops of summer rain feel good, as you skip between them.
With that thought in mind I collected my stuff and stepped out on the porch.
Whereupon it came down in torrents.
.
Oh.
Not that I mind getting myself wet, but the sensation of wet, cold clothes sticking to my body and dripping all the way through the house…
On balance, I decided I’d wait.
So I went back in and administered afternoon cat meds, reversing the afternoon order.
Always risky to make sudden random alterations to customary plans.
Inevitably, later on I find myself asking: “did I…..???”

.

Today has got away from me, though I suppose you could say that it was the whole week that got away. Tuesday I was certain it was Monday and I never quite got back in the groove.
Whatever the groove is.
.
Since being blacked out by smoke for the best part of three days, the returning light has seemed extra dazzling.

.

Every colour highlighted.

.
Mr Groundhog was on the prowl

“Well he’s not having mine!”

.

Grant had to go out specially, this morning to lay in a supply of carrots which I am sure we topped up only two days ago.
But the way he dishes them out, it’s no wonder we run short.
.
A little well-breakfasted face peeps up from its hole, and the man starts flinging whole carrots out the window.
She’s not going to refuse, is she?
“Got to eat while its available!”
I can’t wait till the babies emerge.

.

The most beautiful, the most puffy clouds!
My friend Tim and I boarded a brand new JAL 767 years ago after a trip in slightly down-market circumstances.
“Oh, it’s so clean! It’s so comfy!”
“The food is so good! The staff so nice!“
My enthusiasm was a little OTT
.
Admittedly, my bursts of enthusiasm were quite rare in those days. Tim thought it was hilarious.
.
Even this little squirrel seemed extra smart.
Her white bits so white, her pose so right.

.

The doves stood out so beautifully against the green, green grass.
And weeds.
.
Peanut shot past.
“Did I smell leftover chips?”

.

How would tomorrow dawn?

.
It was actually a foggy start, but by 9 o’clock the distant hill was visible which bode well.

.

Gimpy Crow came for breakfast.

With his mate, who’s always near.
.
Then the sky got really black.
But unlike the other day, bright light shone through and blue gaps appeared, here and there.
To reassure myself, I checked the AQI and was happy to note that our current air quality is GOOD.

.

A burst of enthusiasm is coming on.

Thank you, Carolyn, for the lovely pictures!
Joanna
Happy to hear that your air quality is so much better. Groundhogs and squirrels; lots going on, as always. We hadt a hot and sunny day here today, but only18C max, so ‘comfortable’. I was out and about with a friend from London, with Ollie. (Posted about it on my blog)
Best wishes, Pete.
I know what you mean, not knowing what day it is or what week it is. I don’t even know where last week went?
I like rain in the summer. This usually breaks the heat and afterwards nature seems so much more alive. It looks so beautiful there on your side of the world Carolyn (especially now that the smoke lifted). And I know I say this with every new season that comes to you, but summer looks beautiful through your camera lens.
