Winter is not yet done with us. Temperatures are daily climbing drastically, only to plunge again at night. Precipitation is expected in the form of snow/rain which on top of several inches of remaining snow promises – a mess.
And in the 10-day forecast, a return to the deep freeze.
If you’ve seen my recent posts, you know that I have enjoyed Winter but Spring is coming, as evidenced by the shape of trees which are in bud.
A cheering sign for anyone tired of Winter.

Many photographs do not get taken because noticing the subject too late, I am unable to activate the camera in time and generally it is not possible to backup.
On our way to the store the other day, Grant dived off the highway to rid himself of a pursuer and we sailed too quickly past a tree prettily lit up against the blue sky.
So on the way home I prepared myself and made him turn off again.

Earlier, I’d only managed a shot of the last cling-ons.
Cling-ons are not just Star Trek characters. OK, so they were Klingons.
They often find themselves in my lens.

It was another of those painfully perfect days.
“When did we see those fox cubs last year?” asked Grant
,.

As research eventually revealed, it was April 12th.
Yes, we had snow, which is probably why I’d said it must have been March.
“Wouldn’t it be nice if we saw one today.” said the man…
.

Behold. A fox.
It was sitting outside the burrow where we saw the kits last year.
.

For once I remembered that row of trees. I try to capture them in different seasons.
Rows of trees always catch my sight, especially if something may be seen beyond.
.

The pendulous branches of willows have turned yellow, another indication of Spring.
(In case it was my imagination, I looked that up!)
.

Here’s another one. They do cheer up a landscape.

A favourite tree that lives in Greenwich regrettably is behind power lines.
It too is fluffing out.
Signs of Spring.

Thank you, Carolyn, for the spirit-lifting post with a title “Signs of Spring”. If Grant is a magician than he could pull the spring from his hat! I love the photos of the trees, landscapes and the foxes!
Here, the temperature jumps from 5 degrees to 15 degrees in the space of a week; it must be spring just around the corner!

How fortunate to see a fox at the same place. The blue skies look lovely, as we have had cloud and strong winds here today in Beetley. No snow though, fortunately.
Best wishes, Pete.
My husband found a dead fox on our property, I could tell it upset him. I wonder if the bitter cold weather was a factor.
