In haste…

1740/28th June 2022

In the top picture, I saw a rather plump lady driving a car. (Lying on her back!)

Three minutes later I had another look and decided she had changed into a sheep!

Clouds morph all the time but I’ve never noticed one curl up quite like that.

Grant came by and says he can’t see the fat lady.

Perhaps it’s a stretch. Or I have a better imagination?

“If you want my opinion, we’ll need more nuts!”

“Or carrots.”

The all-day food bar is going to have to restrict its hours.

Things have got a bit out of hand with so many demanding visitors.

Lately we’ve been feeling sorry for the blue-jays that can’t seem to get more than the odd nut here and there.

Usually they are the raucous bully-boys.

The fox comes by so often now, I’m wondering if there aren’t two. I thought it was unusual to see them in daylight but an acquaintance who lives nearby has one visiting her during the day also.

Maybe a shortage of prey?

Since coming to live in the country, I have had a chance as never before to notice the changes in Nature, season to season and year to year.

Until this year, wild turkeys visited us regularly.

They are beautiful and we grew very fond of them.

The yearly courting display is quite a sight.

According to Google, though, the numbers are increasing and the hunting season is to expand 🙁

Perhaps I could put a notice out, inviting them to sanctuary on my property.

The starling babies finally grew up making room for baby grackles. But grackle parents are not as accommodating of their children!

Their main interest is figuring out how many nuts they can fit without messing up their centre of gravity.

“Just one more…”

“Or two?”

“Yo! Mum. Starving here!”

“Just because she’s watching, in the window there.”

“Jolly well learn to feed yourself! See this?”

“Nut. Pick it up like this…”

“That’s it!”

“Clever child.”

Mother and child (right)

Their beaks are impressive.

Red-wings get a little lost in all the fuss. The sparrows just dart in and out, small and speedy.

A rather hasty post today because once again I seem to have run short of time!

How did I ever work for a living?

  1. My wife sees people and things in clouds all the time. Sometimes, I don’t get it, but I can see your fat lady this time. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Ha, it’s definitely a fat lady (maybe only women can see that … and Pete 😉). It’s a pity you have not seen wild turkeys yet this year … maybe they’ll still come. What is that pinkish flower at the end of your post – it’s lovely. Oh my, I had to laugh at your last sentence 😅 – good one Carolyn!

  3. Next time I read a blog, I hope that it won’t fail me just as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, nonetheless I truly thought you would have something interesting to talk about. All I hear is a bunch of crying about something that you can fix if you were not too busy looking for attention.
