Purpose

Wildlife is probably the best cure, in my case, for depression. Watching Little Red’s antics takes my mind to a healthier place.

How could you not be cheered by this little face?

.

“Little Red” is a collective title. We aren’t sure how many of these tiny squirrels come to visit, but as you can see, this one is easily identifiable. He’s been in the wars.

He’s fearless and regularly chases off the grey guys.

Red really gets into his food. He knows there are peanuts in there and he digs for them.

.

After finding the feeders raided by raccoons, last night we started bringing them in, mostly because we don’t want them bashed to bits. Raccoons are rough!

Waking, this morning, I had a purpose for getting out of bed which was two-fold:

This contrail fascinated me. Did the pilot suddenly have a change of heart? Realize he was heading in the wrong direction? Did he decide to return to base? My pal Tim would be able to find out, but I am happy just to guess and I had the bird feeders to hang out. I didn’t want my friends arriving to no breakfast.

  1. Awww they’re so cute <3. When I'm feeling down, I do that too. I walk around the park, or go down by the river. Nature refreshes your mind!

  2. That’s a good idea to bring the feeders in at night. Not only are raccoons rough, they are thieves, too. They will carry off any bowls that they can manage. My solution to that was the big metal bowl like the ones you use, too, Carolyn.
